19 of Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hardcourt

A comeback the Russian player secured his initial title for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a former world number one, has had a difficult season, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in particular - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-time trainer Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set win over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This marks his maiden championship after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface from spring of 2023.

Success also means the Russian has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one various events.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my two daughters together, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six finals, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and regular reactions on the playing surface had led commentators to doubt if his ability to play at the elite level was over.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and perform assertively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging Moutet, taking four of the concluding five games to take the lead.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden ATP Tour title, gained dominance to force a decider.

He rescued four initial break points in a tight final set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Appropriately, the winner clinched the title with a point at the net area, with his opponent incapable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
